DAY 1 MOSCOW
Welcome to Moscow! After embarking your ship, you have free time before this evening’s welcome reception onboard. (D)

DAY 2 MOSCOW
This morning disembark for a tour of the political and economic heartbeat of Russia. Stop at Red Square to witness Moscow’s iconic landmarks including the Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral. Or consider the optional excursion to the historic Novodevichy Convent. (B, L, D)

DAY 3 MOSCOW
After breakfast, visit the Kremlin, a potent symbol of Russian history and political power. Within this fortified enclosure of red brick walls and towers are many cathedrals and palaces, including the magnificent Assumption Cathedral. Return to your ship for dinner. (B, L, D)

DAY 4 UGLICH
Cruising along the Moscow Canal brings you to Uglich on the Golden Ring. Uglich dates back to 1148 and has some of Russia’s most beautiful churches and cathedrals, including the Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood, built on the site where Ivan the Terrible’s son was mysteriously killed. (B, L, D)

DAY 5 YAROSLAVL
Founded in 1010 on the banks of the Volga River, Yaroslavl is one of the cities along the famed “Golden Ring.” Your tour will include the 12th Century Spassky Monastery one of the oldest in the Upper Volga region. In the afternoon you will be offered an optional tour of Rostov Veliky. (B, L, D)

DAY6 KOSTROMA
Kostroma is one of the cities of the well-known tourist route “The Golden Ring of Russia”. Kostroma was first mentioned in chronicles in 1213. This is one of the Russian cities that has preserved, in general, its unique and distinctive architectural appearance. Also on offer will be an optional tour, Museum of Wooden Architecture, located behind the walls of Ipatievsky monastery a unique outdoor museum. (B, L, D)

DAY 7 PLIOS
Today you have a free day to relax and enjoy the town of Plios located on the Volga River. It is the smallest and perhaps the most picturesque historic town of the Russian Golden Ring. Alternatively join a optional tour to the Golden Ring town of Suzdal. (B, L, D)

DAY 8 NIZHNY NOVGOROD
Mid afternoon arrival in Nizhny Novgorod, founded in 1221. The city was a famous meeting place where people from the Orient, Siberia and Turkistan came to barter and trade. Nizhny Novgorod has only recently opened its doors for visitors, and has many well preserved memorials from the 13th and 14th Centuries. Your city tour includes the ancient Kremlin cathedrals, convents and the palace of the early ruling family. (B, L, D)

DAY 9 KAZAN
Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, is often called the “Pearl of the Central Volga region”. Numerous masterpieces of architecture; the unique “Leaning Tower of Princess Suumbike,” Kremlin, Moslem Mosques and minarets, magnificent Orthodox churches and cathedrals make this city a special attraction for visitors. DAY 10 ULYANOVSK
On arrival in Ulyanovsk, birth place of Vladimir Lenin, your city tour includes a visit to the Lenin Memorial Complex which includes the house in which he was born and other buildings associated with his life. (B, L, D)

DAY 11 SAMARA
Founded in the 16th century, Samara is today an important industrial and cultural centre. Formerly known as Kuibyshev, the city played a big role in the Peasant Uprisings of 1670 and 1773. (B, L, D)

DAY 12 SARATOV
Tour this beautiful city surrounded by outlying villages, settled by Germans in the 18th and 19th centuries. Chernyshevsky, the famous Russian writer and democrat was born here and Yuri Gagarin, the world’s first cosmonaut, was a member of the Saratov Flying Club. (B, L, D)

DAY 13 VOLGOGRAD
On arrival after breakfast, tour this city, formerly known as Stalingrad, which is synonymous with WWII. The thriving city centre was rebuilt as a living monument to the valour and courage of the defenders of Stalingrad during World War II, which proved a major turning point of the war. Included in the tour is a visit to Mamaev Kurgan, a commemorative statute to the Battle of Stalingrad. (B, L, D)

DAY 14 SCENIC CRUISING
Today is spent cruising along the Volga River towards Astrakhan on the Caspian Sea. (B, L, D)

DAY 15 ASTRAKHAN
On arrival after breakfast, take a tour of this city located in the Volga Delta. A great part of the city lies below the spring flood levels of the Volga, so dams and levees have been built in many places. (B, L, D)

DAY 16 SCENIC CRUISING
Today is spent cruising back up the Volga River to Volgograd. (B, L, D)

DAY 17 VOLGOGRAD
Today you have a free morning to further explore Volgograd. You will be offered optional tours to the Military Cemetery in Rossoshki or the Panorama Museum. In the afternoon continue your cruise to Rostov-on-Don. (B, L, D)

DAY18 SCENIC CRUISING
Today is spent cruising along the Volga-Don channel towards Rostov-on-Don. (B, L, D)

DAY 19 ROSTOV - ON - DON
This afternoon take the city tour of the “Gateway to the Caucasus” with its magnificent parks, beaches, theatres and museums. Tonight will be a Gala Farewell Dinner on board. (B, L, D)

DAY 20 ROSTOV - ON - DON
Your Lower Volga tour concludes after breakfast. (B)
