DAY 2 Rostov-on-Don
Rostov-on-Don was the southernmost part of Russia's Steppes and was an 18th century Cossack outpost and trading centre. Today, this 'Gateway to the Caucasus' leads to the Ukraine and is an industrial and agricultural centre. Its magnificent parks and beaches, theatres and museums, and unusual botanic gardens with vast collections of rare and beautiful plants make Rostov-on-Don a most attractive city on the Don River. DAY 3 Scenic Cruising
Today will be spent cruising towards your next destination. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as you journey through the Volga-Don Canal. BLD

DAY 4 Volgograd
Volgograd is an important industrial city and the administrative centre of Volgograd Oblast. The city became famous for its resistance during the Battle of Stalingrad against the German Army in World War II, often regarded as the longest and bloodiest battle in the history of warfare. BLD

DAY 5 Scenic Cruising
Today will be spent cruising towards your next destination. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. BLD

DAY 6 Astrakhan
Astrakhan is a city in southern Russia and the administrative centre of Astrakhan Oblast. The city lies on two banks of the Volga River and is the oldest economic and cultural centre of the Lower Volga. Its population is diverse and includes 100 ethnicities and 14 religious denominations. BLD

DAY 7 Scenic Cruising
Today will be spent cruising back towards Volgograd. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. BLD

DAY 8 Volgograd
Today, you return to Volgograd and are free to explore more of this city or perhaps join an optional tour. BLD

DAY 9 Saratov
Saratov combines the architecture of an old merchant town and a modern city, a city of universities, theatres and museums. On the famous Cosmonauts Embankment of Saratov, you can enjoy the beauty of the Volga River and walk over the bridge "Saratov-Engels". BLD

DAY 10 Samara
Samara is a large city and the centre of the Volga economic region, standing high on the left bank of the Volga River. There are various historic buildings which make the city precious from an architectural point of view. See Samara Embankment, the longest in Russia, one of the main sights in the city. BLD

DAY 11 Ulyanovsk
Ulyanovsk is a city in the European part of Russia, standing on the Privolzhsky hill, on the banks of the Volga River and Sviyaga River. Known as a city of museums, numerous museums offer exhibitions about the city's history, culture and architecture. BLD

DAY 12 Kazan
Today arrive in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan Republic. It is one of the most important economic, scientific and cultural centres of Russia. It is said to have been founded no less than 1000 years ago as an outpost on the northern borders of the Volzhkaya Bulgaria. In the 13th to 14th centuries, Kazan rapidly developed and became an important centre of the Golden Horde and in 1438, Kazan was declared the capital of the Kazan Khanate. After several conflicts with Moscow state, the town was conquered by Ivan the Terrible. BLD

DAY 13 Nizhniy Novgorod
Founded in 1221, this city was a famous meeting place where people from the Orient, Siberia and Turkistan came to barter and trade. It was later home to political exiles and therefore closed to the outsiders for many years. Having just opened its doors for visitors, it houses many well preserved memorials from the 13th and 14th centuries as well as the ancient Kremlin cathedrals, convents and the palace of the early ruling family. DAY 14 Plyos
Plyos is an unknown corner of the Russian Golden Ring. This ancient town, with 2514 inhabitants, is the smallest and perhaps the most picturesque of the Golden Ring, showcasing breathtaking riverside vistas, tastefully restored period Chekhov-style dachas (cottages) and a unique atmosphere of relaxed but sophisticated country living. DAY 15 Yaroslavl
Situated at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl rivers, Yaroslavl is renowned for its numerous 17th century churches and is an outstanding example of the urban planning reform Empress Catherine the Great ordered for the whole of Russia in 1763. While keeping some of its historical structures, the town was renovated in the neoclassical style on a radial urban master plan. It has also kept elements from the 16th century in the Spassky Monastery, one of the oldest in the Upper Volga region. BLD

DAY 16 Uglich
Today, you continue on to Uglich, founded in 1148 and one of the most beloved towns in Russia. The view of the town as it is approached from the Volga River is especially lovely with the Cathedral of the Resurrection and St. John's Church looming on the horizon. At the end of the 16th century, Maria Nagaya, seventh wife of Ivan the Terrible, lived in honorary exile in the Kremlin at Uglich. It was here in her garden that Tsarevich Dmitry met his death and where the Church of St. Demitrius of the Blood was built and still stands today. BLD

DAY 17 Moscow
Today, go on a guided sightseeing city tour of Moscow where you will see many interesting sights: the Bolshoi Stone Bridge; stops at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts; the new monument to Peter the Great; Gorky Park, observation platform of Sparrow (Lenin) Hills; Victory Park and Poklonnaya Hill with its World War II Memorial; Kutuzov Avenue; White House plus many more. BLD

DAY 18 Moscow
Today, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour to explore Moscow's famous Kremlin and Cathedral Square. The Kremlin, the former residence of Russian czars, is an architectural ensemble of unique beauty, which took shape between the 15th and 20th centuries. Visit Cathedral Square, the centre of the Kremlin, where you'll see the 15th century Assumption Cathedral; the 15th century Annunciation Cathedral and the 16th century Cathedral of Archangel. On the grounds of the Kremlin there is the famous Czar Cannon of the 16th century and Czar Bell of the 18th century. BLD

DAY 19 Moscow
